New Year-New Beginnings
Out with the old, in with the new. I love the New Year, it brings hope for new beginnings and fresh starts. I am always amused, when I listen to friends set unrealistic resolutions for themselves, that they will most likely forget about by January 5th. Though I am guilty of doing the same thing myself.
Through the years I have tried different ways to bring in the New Year. I have partied with friends, and stayed home and practiced Feng Shui with my two kids. What I learned is to keep my resolutions to a minimum and try to be realistic. I don't like to set myself up for failure, so I don't say I am going to loose that five pounds that I gained over the holidays.
On New Years day, I think of ways that I can eat healthier and get more fit. I don't make a list of things I will do for the year, I do think of what steps I will take to achieve my long term goals. I like to keep my expectations low, so I don't set myself up for disappointment. I refuse to think about the past on New Years day, it's the past, it's over and done with, don't dwell on it.
I think positive thoughts and spend the day thinking about all that I want to achieve in my life, to come. I call my loved ones, to tell them that I love them and wish them a Happy New Year. Most importantly of all, I do things and think of things to make myself happy.
The reality is, each day is a new beginning and a new day of blessings. A new chance to do something new or something to make ourselves or someone else happy. A new day to do a good deed and practice the simple acts of kindness.
So the year is over and a new one begins, what will you do differently to make your year better or improve your life? What New Years resolutions have you set for yourself? What simple acts of kindness can you practice in the year to come?
Everyone Have A Happy-Happy New Year!
