The Prestige of a Title

Over the past few months, I have been noticing the way many people, love the prestige of a title. You know the ones, that love to brag, about their job title.

It amazes me how they act as if, a title defines who they are as a person. What would happen if the title was taken from them? Would it change who they are?

We put a label on everything these days and many people act as if they have to have a label, next to their name. "I am the C.O.O" of such and such, "I am "Mrs" who ever, "I am the Manager" of what ever.

It makes me think of the old saying 'There are people who want to be important and then there are people that are actually important'.

Does wearing a label, really make people that important? Does it really define the type of person, that they really are?

People love prestige and wearing a title next to their name, makes them feel prestigious. I have seen many people stripped of their job titles, they act shattered, as if their life is over and they are naked without it.

The reality is, we all wear many titles in life, for the roles that we play. People put a label on themselves and each other. A title does not define who we are as people and what we will do in this life time.

Everyone has their own book in life, and every book has it's own chapter, it's own ending. We define the pages that are written in each chapter, by what we do each and every day. Though nobody, really knows how their book will end.

The real question is, Do we really want the pages that we write each day, to be defined by a 'Title'?

I have wore many labels and have been labeled by others, throughout my life. I learned in my early twenties, from the advice, that I received from a intelligent man, that wears the label PHD, next to his name. Dr. Mike, made me realize then, a label will never define "Who you are".

If you were to put a label on yourself, what would it say? Would it change, who you are?
Most importantly of all, "Why do you think, that you need one?"  "Why not be yourself and be the best version that you can possibly be?"

Everyone have a great week!
