No Stranger To Rejection

As a writer, the one thing that I have become familiar with is rejection. I remember the first article I submitted to Parent Magazine, it was rejected and I was very frustrated. Over the years I have submitted numerous pieces of my work, to several different places and have been rejected. I was rejected by Field and Stream Magazine for an article and told my children's book was to auspicious, by a publisher. This past week, I have had two articles rejected from Yahoo and two published on Yahoo Voices. There was a time, when I would let rejection discourage me. It was when I read Stephen Kings non fiction book 'On Writing' that helped me realize, rejection happens to the best writers. I have saved my letters of rejection and joked with both my kids, that I will staple them on the wall. Being rejected is what taught me, to never give up and to keep writing. I look at Stephen King not only as a brilliant writer, I see him as a great teacher and inspiration to all writers....

Making A Difference

Over this past week; I decided to donate my writing skills, to help my cousin Jessica's aunt, Kari Galassi. After I did a telephone interview with her and wrote an article on her story. I was trying to decide how I could help other people, with my writing skills. I decided to start a second Blog, to help Organ Donor recipients to connect with people that can help them. The Blog is called Connecting Organs, I also started a Facebook page by the same name. I teamed up with my life long friend, Carrie Dalton. We will use the Blog to do a feature, on an Organ Recipient, in need of help. Our goal is to help as many people, as we possibly can. Carrie and I have been personally effected, by End Renal Kidney Failure. We both have had people we were, or are close to go through Kidney Transplants. Right now, for Carrie it is her younger sister Sherie Dalton. Sherie is on a waiting list for a Kidney and going through Dialysis. Their parents, Leonard and Yvonne Dalton, are both transpla...

My First Published Article

This week, I had my first published article as a Freelance writer on Yahoo. One of the advantages to writing for Yahoo, the Assignment Desk. If I am having trouble with topics to write about, I can search the Assignment Desk and accept a topic. This article was a subject posted to the desk and I accepted it, to start some where. As I work on building my platform and online library, I learn something new everyday. Take a peak at the article and please leave a comment, letting me know your thoughts, to help me improve. Have a great weekend! Bobbie XoXoXo http://t.co/hQR6wP0T6R

Saving Money When I Go Shopping

I learned how to buy cute clothes for my kids, myself and save money when I shop. As a single mom of two, I was struggling to keep up with clothes for them. My son was an infant and growing out of his clothes fast, when I discovered clearance racks. It was one of the smartest things I had discovered to do, as a parent. I went to my local mall, to shop for baby clothes. One of the stores was having a great sale on clearance items. The problem for me then, they were all bigger sizes than what he was in at the time. I could not pass up the price, some were marked to $15 and take an additional 70% off that price. The clothes were for the winter season and we were going into summer, the stores were blowing out the old merchandise. I bought the bigger sizes on the rack, took them home and saved them for winter. I started shopping the clearance racks at every store, in the town I lived in. The key is to set your spending limit, mine was $50 for both kids. I would hunt the clearance racks...

Song Writing

When I was a young girl, one of my many dreams was to be the 'Best Song Writer' ever. I spent hours writing songs with my uncle, who taught me about music and song writing. As I grew up, I poured my soul onto paper, writing lyrics about love, life, being a mamma, you name it. I have entered a few song writing contests and had a few demo's done on my songs, I haven't fully pursued making it happen. I want to share one of the songs I entered in a writing contest, it won a yellow ribbon and has not been recorded. Please do not steal my lyrics or share them, I own the copy rights. Please let me know what you think, someday I will put it to music.                                                                                                   ...

Hello World - It's Me Bobbie

Hello world, welcome to Bobbie's Speaking, my latest blog writing venture. I will be writing about numerous topics this time around; instead of confining myself to love, romance and dating. Though I still love romance and writing about it, this will give me the opportunity to show off some of my other writing skills. Writing is still my passion and I want to share it with the world. About me: I am employed as a Bookkeeper by day and spend my evenings and weekends taking a writing course. I am always working on mastering my craft of writing, I have been working on writing a Romance novel and a Screenplay. I learned, when the creativity hits, savor it while it lasts and write what I can, what ever pours out on to paper. Anyone who has ever encountered writers block, learns it can last a day or months so let your creativity flow, when it's flowing. I have two beautiful children, who are growing up fast. My daughter is twenty one and has ventured on her own. My son is still ho...
