Song Writing

When I was a young girl, one of my many dreams was to be the 'Best Song Writer' ever. I spent hours writing songs with my uncle, who taught me about music and song writing. As I grew up, I poured my soul onto paper, writing lyrics about love, life, being a mamma, you name it.

I have entered a few song writing contests and had a few demo's done on my songs, I haven't fully pursued making it happen. I want to share one of the songs I entered in a writing contest, it won a yellow ribbon and has not been recorded. Please do not steal my lyrics or share them, I own the copy rights. Please let me know what you think, someday I will put it to music.

Long Road To Nashville
Verse1:
I was just out of highschool ready to move away
leaving to chase my dream that day
packed with one bag and a book of songs I wrote
all I left was my mamma a note
just couldn’t wait to get on that road
said I’d blow this town a kiss as I wave goodbye

My heart and soul belong to Country music            
It’s those steel guitars that set my spirit free
That Grand Ol’ Oprey keeps calling me and

My car broke down going up the hill
just when I thought I had me a good deal

it was my dream that got pushed away

Slaying the Slump and Bringing It

We all know what a slump is, we all end up there, in one way or another. The most challenging thing, is getting ourselves out of that slump and back on track. This has been my challenge, over the past two months, since empty nest syndrome kicked in, when my youngest child left home. I do believe it all starts with that ugly word--PROCRASTINATION! We procrastinate things and it causes us to slip into a slump. I knew that I needed to write a post for my blog, yet I procrastinated and put it off.  I know that I should do Yoga or some sort of exercise, to keep myself in shape, then I don't. I think about eating healthy foods, because it's better for my health, then I grab a Burger for lunch. I knew I had to get 125 pages of my latest Screenplay written, because I had already paid my entry fee and I didn't. I think procrastination happens when we are on over load. The Little Things

Life takes us down many roads as we chase after our dreams, we often take for granted the beauty of what we are surrounded with. When we consume ourselves chasing after our dreams, we often forget to stop and smell the flowers. The one thing that I have learned is to appreciate the priceless little things in life What I am talking about are the things that are priceless, that money can't buy. Such as a beautiful sunset over the ocean. The feel of the sand between our toes. The way the sun feels on your skin, when it is shining on you, on a perfect day. The smell of flowers in the air, when they blossom in the Spring. As a parent, you learn that when you don't have money to provide for your children the way you had hoped, you learn to appreciate the little things of being a parent. The feeling you get the first time you look into your babies eyes. The sound of the first time they laugh. The smile on a child's face, when they see a toy and they get a gleam in their eyes....
