Dream Big
Yesterday, I had a long conversation with my 85 year old grandmother, I told her my personal goals and what I hope that I can achieve in my life. Her response was, "Bobbie, you have big dreams."
I reminded her that everything started with someone having a dream, some bigger than others. To make her understand what I was talking about, I pointed out what the world was like when she was a child. I reminded her that when she was a young girl, people were still using a horse and buggy for transportation.
Because of someone having a dream or dreaming big, the auto industry eliminated the horse and buggy. In her life time, she has seen television change from the big box, black and white to flat screen, big screen, colored, hi definition.
The telephone has changed drastically in her life time as well, there are no longer telephone operators connecting calls and eaves dropping on conversations. The cell phone has replaced the land line phones.
All of this was possible, because some had a big dream.
In my life time, I can say that because someone had a dream, the video game was invented and technology took over the world. When I was a child, music was played on a turn table record player, along came the 8 track and then the cassette tapes.
I watched the music industry change before my eyes, the CD came along and lead to today's digital music. I can say that I have watched the world change before my eyes, because some had a dream. Walt Disney's famous quote- 'If you can dream it, you can do it'
In my grandmothers life time and mine, people have dreamed it and done it and the world has changed because of it. In the end of my conversation with my grandma, I asked her -what she would be thinking of the world today, if people wouldn't have been dreaming big.
My grandmother pointed things out to me that she is still fascinated with, that we have today. The way the Computer replaced a type writer and the internet and Skype made it possible for her to see and talk with her great granddaughter, while being in two different states. Then of course there was the fact, that we now have a black president, sh never thought she would see that day, she was still intrigued with Martin Luther King.
We all have dreams, some bigger than others. Dreams are what change the world, if we stop dreaming, the world will stop changing. We have to dream and pursue our dreams, it's the only way to change our life and the future that we will live in.
My trivial question for the week, What is your dream and what steps will you take, to pursue your own dreams and make change for yourself or the world?
Everyone have a great week!
